I have read and tried all of the articles, faq's and help you all have
posted about Exchange 2000 IM clients not having their status updating
(i.e. 2 people logged in, one goes to lunch and sets status to "Out to
Lunch". The other checks their Messenger screen and that person's
status still states nothing)...
I am having this same problem and there doesn't seem to be any fixes
out there that I can find. I think I read a post about a HotFix from
Microsoft that fixes this issue, but what would that Hotfix be called
so I can get it.
Anywho here is the just of what I have setup. People can login just
fine and text back and fourth to each other. When one shuts down
their pc or changes their status the other's Messengers don't get
their contact list updated.
Here is my network setup.
1 SBS 2000 Server (PDC)
** w / Exchange 2000 server (Email server works just fine)
** w / ISA 2000 Server (have some destination sets setup for
specific internet access)
** w / Exchange IM Server
** DNS Server (RVP record is setup and works fine) all pc's have
their IP's/name configured correclty and can "Nslookup" any on the
network/wan, also the RVP Nslookup shows correct info.
** I have 5 different internal subnets
location #1 (10.3.129.0/24) Location #2 (10.3.130.0/24), etc
that all use the ISA server for Internet access and their IE proxy
settings are set to bypass for the IM Server so they can login and
use.
** Have uninstalled and re-installed both the IIS IM server, the
Exchange IM service from the SBS2000 setup cd, rebooted, Reinstalled
the IM service server from the SBS2000 setup cd, re-setup the RVP
record, the IIS service, etc, and then SP3 then SP4 (just in case.
** When I got done configuring and testing everyone was able to once
again login and chat with others. but the problem is still here. They
have to exit out of Messenger then restart to get a fresh list of
those who just logged in, or see the other's status.
Like I said above I have tried every post that I can find here and on
the net in general. I am about at whit's end and this is becoming not
worth the time spent on it. If there is a "HotFix" or such for this
problem could you please either email to me or give me what it is
called so I can call Microsoft to get it?
Thank you for your time.
